Answer: The chart shows the contribution of five main sources of electricity to the total electricity production in the USA in 1980. The highest contribution came from coal and it was almost half of the total production of electricity, to be exact, 46% of the total production. The second highest contributor was natural gas and it contributed 24% of the total production. The third highest contribution came from hydro-electric power (16%). Then came oil and its contribution was only 12%. The production of electricity from nuclear source was very little: it was only 2% of the total electricity production. In fact, the production of electricity was fully dependent on coal and natural gas covering 70% of the production.

However, hydro-electric power ranks third by being the source of 16.2% of USA electricity. Finally, nuclear energy is the source of a paltry 1.4% of USA electricity. This fact clearly bears an evidence of USA as a technologically and scientifically developed country in producing electricity through means other than natural elements.
